The NWVQHA encourages
excellence in the
youth by providing scholarships to outstanding 1. The
scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university,
trade
school or vocational training program. After receiving the award, a
written
request from the recipient must be made to the Treasurer for payment to
the
designated school. 2. The
scholarship is available to any young man or woman who is or will be a
high
school graduate/GED, and is a member in good standing of the NWVQHA. 3. If in
the opinion of the Selection Committee, no applicant meets the
standards as set
by the committee, the scholarships funds will be held in the NWVQHA
account. 4.
Selection will be based on: A) the ability
and aptitude for serious study B) community
service and leadership C) achievements
with horses D) 250-500 word
essay on one of the two following subjects: 1) How the horse industry has
helped to
prepare me for my future endeavors. 2) What
attributes have I acquired through working with
horses. All applicants
must have shown a horse in classes at the NWVQHA show the previous year
prior
to submitting an application. For example: to be eligible to receive
2009 scholarship,
applicant should have shown in 2008 show season. 5. All
applications must be postmarked no later than September 1 if they wish
to be
considered. 6.
